The Adjustment Bureau

On Thursday night (well I guess Friday morning) I attended the midnight showing of The Adjustment Bureau. It was playing in two theaters and though I only went into one of the two, I predict that there were not a lot of viewers in the other theater. My uncle and I got a private showing (a.k.a. no one else was there…). So you can only imagine what I was thinking before the movie even started. Was the movie going to suck? Why wasn't anyone else there? But anyways let's just get to the movie…
Matt Damon is an amazing actor. When portraying David Norris, a potential senator, he exceeds expectations with flying colors. For the ladies, he is constantly wearing the color blue whether it’s a shirt or a tie. His eyes are gleaming the entire movie and it's amazing! This movie has a fascinating concept. It asks the question, what if everything is controlled by a hire power? What if every spill, lost item, or coincidental moment is in fact necessary for us to stay on our destined paths? The members of the Adjustment Bureau are following David Norris, controlling his every move so that he can get elected to represent New York as their senator. When he meets Elise, he goes off plan and chaos erupts at the bureau. He is never to see her again and if he does his dreams of becoming a political leader are ruined. A member of the Adjustment Bureau falls asleep while watching Norris. He is supposed to make him spill his coffee no later than 7:05 so that he missed the morning bus that Elise happens to be on. When Norris doesn't spill his coffee and gets on the bus, he realizes that he is meant to be with Elise and decides that he will do whatever it takes to be with her. As they part she gives him her phone number and he is to call her whenever he wants to be with her. This is the first time he meets the members of the bureau face to face. They tell him that he can not see her ever again and they take her phone number. For three years he lost contact with Elise but he never stopped thinking about her. Everything was according to plan, she was to marry her fiancĂ© and David was supposed to continue his life as a politician. Until one day when chance brings David and Elise back together. David knows that they will not be able to stay together once the bureau finds out that they reunited. But they become closer and begin speaking again. The movie continues on and David and Elise split again when he watches her dance. She is a ballerina who is destined to be one of the greatest dancers of her time. He knows that if they stay together, she will lose her chances to become the professional dancer of the century. Elise is to get married but Norris appears at the wedding and tells her about the bureau. They decide to run from their destiny and he formulates a plan to escape from the bureau. In the end they are that their separation was a test. They both risked everything for each other and because of that they are permitted to stay together. The movies plot was scattered at parts and everyone knows that when a movie feels a lot longer then it is it normally isn't good. This movie had a great concept and really kept you thinking but it was not the best movie I have seen. I would rate it about a B.

Never Say Never ... and i will never go.

Though I refuse to go see this movie, the fans (probably 10 year old girls) have rated this movie off the charts. Justin Bieber became famous via youtube as a young child. His voice spread across America as fast as lightning until Usher himself discovered Bieber's talent. "Everyone involved in “Never Say Never” is working overtime to prove that he is, as one of them puts it, 'just a regular kid who had a dream,' while everything about the movie screams the opposite," critic Mike Hale of the New York Times said. Maybe Justin is being in get his own Bieber fever.
My suggestion is that anyone over the age of 12 who doesn't enjoy spending $10.50 (or more for 3D) to see a drawn out boring movie shouldn't waste their time. Critics said that this movie would've been a lot better if it ended a half hour or so short of its 105 minute length.
When Justin Bieber actually looks his age it might be considered acceptable for high schoolers to crush on him. Maybe then his voice will be deeper then his girlfriends.
Director Jon M. Chu did the best that he could. He interviewed fans, showed home videos, introduced other celebrities, and put on a fantastic concert. Critics raved at his success and great attempt at making this movie sensational. Hopefully his next movie will be for children over age 13 and have a plot worth following.

The Roommate: Community Colleges' best friend

I must say that while exiting the theater after watching this movie I considered attending LCCC and living at home (that thought only lasted a few moments though). This disturbing movie is exactly what community colleges needed, a reason for future students to be afraid of dorm rooms. Finding a roommate is something that every high school senior stresses about and The Roommate didn't help at all.
A freshman college student, Rebecca (played by Leighton Meester), meets her roommate, Sara (Minka Kelly), and like any two girls they begin to bond through fashion and gossip. As the girls get closer, Rebecca starts showing her true colors through a combination of piercing her own ears (and eating her blood), ripping out another girl's belly button ring, and seducing a teacher. Sara meets boyfriend, Stephen, and Rebecca beings to get jealous. She pushes everyone away from Sara so she can have her for herself. The final straw was reached when Rebecca got the exact tattoo that Sara has (her dead sister's name). Sara runs away only to find her best friend tied to her bed a few days later. Rebecca appears within seconds holding a gun and threatening to kill. Like all scary movies, with some wrestling and heart stopping events, Rebecca is killed and all is relieved. The final scene shows Sara in a new dorm removing what would be her roommate's bed from the room. Though this movie was scary in the moment, I left the theater without fear. The movie was nothing special and nothing unexpected. This would be a good one to save some money on. I suggest renting it for $1 instead of paying the $10.50 at Crocker Park.

No Strings Attached: A Triple Threat..

A hot guy (Aston Kutcher), Some good quotes, and lots of laughs.
No Strings Attached was a lot better than I expected it to be. The previews displayed it as a typical, plotless comedy displaying the dream every man wishes he could live, but No Strings Attached turned out to be a lot more than that. The movie begins at a summer camp with a teenage boy and girl sitting on a park bench attempting to say goodbye on their last night of summer camp. Some vulgar language initates the humorous background in the movie. Adam(Ashton Kutcher) and Emma(Natalie Porman) reunite at a frat party years later. Adam finds out that his father is dating his exgirlfriend and ends up on Emma's couch after a long night of drinking. They begin there "friends with benefits" relationship a day later. After a few months into their "not relationship", Adam beings to fall in love. Of course the guy messed everything up... After a break-up and some regret, Emma realizes that she too has fallen in love. In the end, Emma and Adam admit their love for eachother and it's happily ever after. Both men and women have said they enjoyed the movie. Perhaps this "not so love story" isn't a chick flick after all.
